Having a career in journalism, Alec’s interest in creating art for his own enjoyment has always run alongside this.
After working with several mediums, he has been most inspired in recent years by working with fused glass processes. It has been an experimental direction and a development over time to perfect techniques; glass work being an intriguing and technical process but at times unpredictable.
Using a multi-layered approach combining a variety of high quality coloured opaque and transparent glass, each piece of artwork is kiln fired several times.
Alec’s inspiration is the natural environment, particularly woodlands and trees. That multi-layered approach to the materials and processes lends itself perfectly to the textural subject matter and scenes that Alec depicts.
These hand-crafted pieces of art are beautifully tactile and truly unique.
