Alison brings a vibrant and dynamic central focal point to each of the seascapes she creates; the physical energy of which are successfully expressed on the canvas.
Through the inspiration and her subsequent acute observation of wild, rugged coastlines, Alison focuses on how the changing light interacts with the water and rocky surfaces of the scene. This results in the more abstracted qualities of the natural landscape being predominant; the atmosphere being the most important aspect of the painting.
Ephemeral, powerful and evocative, the artist achieves a strong sense of movement through colour, light and texture. Comparisons can be drawn with those dramatic, turbulent seascapes by British Romantic artist J.M.W Turner which are so familiar to us. Alison brings a contemporary approach to those British coastlines with a varied and rich contemporary colour palette.
A Warwickshire based artist, we met Alison when she visited the Chester Arts Fair November 2017 and have been looking forward to introducing her work to our gallery here in Chester this year. Alison has held many exhibitions within the UK, Italy and Paris and is soon to exhibit in the Middle East. Her work continues to reach clients on an international scale.
