Andrei Protsouk

Born in the industrial Donetsk in 1961, Artist Andrei Protsouk demonstrated an exceptional artist gift from a young age. After leaving school he attended the prestigious Lugansk School of Fine Art, then completed a Masters Degree at the Ilya Repin Leningrad Institute, which is often regarded as one of the world's finest art training programmes.

Andrei then studied under Evsey Moissenko, world-renowned contemporary of Marc Chagall and Pablo Picasso, becoming his protegee as Moiseenko couldn't help but notice the potential of Protsouk's talent. Reflective of the melancholy of Soviet living conditions, Protsouk's early work used dark colours and heavy textures.

In 1994, he moved to the US and established himself as a prominent figure in the contemporary art scene. Andrei Protsouk's paintings became colourful, depicting his subjects celebrating life in the freedom of America. Many of his contemporary abstract artworks now centre around the universal theme of love, frequently depicting couples in the midst of passionate dances or embraces.
